Leonard Akwany Jr is an experienced environmental professional currently serving as the Freshwater Director for Africa at Conservation International since September 2020. As the Founder and Coordinator of Ecofinder Kenya since January 1995, Leonard Akwany Jr has worked on environmental entrepreneurship aimed at sustainable communities around Lake Victoria. Previously, Leonard Akwany Jr contributed as a Regional Wetlands Expert for the Nile Basin Initiative, addressing wetlands mapping and sustainability across ten Nile River Basin countries. Other roles include Senior Associate Consultant at AidEnvironment East Africa, Country Representative and Project Manager at Centre for Rural Empowerment and the Environment, and Programme Officer at IDH, The Sustainable Trade Initiative. Leonard Akwany Jr holds a Master of Science in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management from The University of Manchester and has completed various certificates in related fields from notable institutions.
