Virginia Foote has had a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Virginia started their career as a Financial Analyst at Bear Stearns in 1993, before working as a Consultant at ACCION International in 1995. From 1996 to 1997, they worked as an Associate at Elek, Moreno Valle y Asociados. In 2002, they became a Lecturer at Boston University School of Management. Foote then served as the CFO/Controller at EF Education from 2005 to 2006. From 2010 to 2013, they worked as the Director of Finance and Operations at TEM Capital, LLC. Foote later joined the Conservation Law Foundation in 2015 as the Director of Impact Investment. In 2016, they became a Member/Partner at Clean Energy Venture Group. Additionally, they worked as a Teacher at Shaanxi Teachers' University, Xian, China, from 1990 to 1991.

Virginia Foote earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Yale University between the years 1986 and 1990. Virginia then pursued further education and obtained a Master of Science degree in Economic History from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) from 1991 to 1992. Later on, they attended Harvard Business School from 1997 to 1999, where they completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Business/Finance.
