Herman Nel

Herman Nel has extensive experience in the energy sector, currently serving as a Generation Controller at Contact Energy Ltd since February 2020. Previously, Herman worked at Eskom for over a decade, beginning as an Outside Plant Operator from March 2007 to March 2009, progressing to Senior Plant Operator, and then to Power Plant Controller, where responsibilities included monitoring and controlling all operations on fossil fuel-fired power stations. Educational achievements include a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Westcol Krugersdorp and a National Diploma in Power Plant Process Control Operations from the Eskom Academy of Learning. Currently pursuing a Diploma in Geothermal Plant Operation (Steam Turbine) through NZQF, Herman's background demonstrates a strong commitment to professional development within the energy industry.
