Jason Smotherman is currently serving as a 711 Law Clerk at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, representing the State of Illinois in criminal proceedings since August 2024. Previously, Jason gained experience as a Law Clerk at the Legislative Services Agency, where research and memo drafting addressed Indiana statutes and proposed legislation related to education, immigration, and law enforcement. Jason's extensive background in engineering includes over nine years as a Senior Principal System Engineer at LHP Software, where responsibilities included developing mathematical models for diesel engine fuel systems, performance testing, and data analysis. Jason holds a Doctor of Law from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Indiana University Indianapolis, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
