Shawn E.

Shawn E. has over two decades of legal and administrative experience. Shawn most recently served as the Director of Access and Equity at the University of Illinois Chicago, beginning in January 2023. Prior to this role, Shawn held the position of Director of Legal Hiring at the Cook County State's Attorney's Office since January 2020. From 2004 to January 2020, they served as the General Counsel for the State of Illinois. Shawn also worked as an attorney at Tameling and Associates from 2002 to 2004, and as an attorney for the State of Illinois from 2000 to 2002. Before that, they worked as a Staff Attorney at the Office of the Public Guardian from 1999 to 2000, and as a Hearing Officer for the Chicago Public Schools from 1997 to 1999.

Shawn E. completed a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Curriculum and Instruction from DePaul University between 1992 and 1994. Later, between 1996 and 1999, Shawn E. pursued a Doctor of Law (JD) degree in Law from the same university. In 1999, Shawn E. obtained the Illinois State Bar and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois certifications.
