Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE:

Silver Mountain Construction is seeking an experienced construction Project Manager in Yuma Arizona. The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for managing scope, cost, schedule, internal staffing, subcontractors, and contractual deliverables on construction projects under a Job Order Contract. Duties will typically include specification review and analysis, preparing project job cost estimates, obtaining quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, quality assurance, project supervision, budget and schedule management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for client on a large government contract.

  • Prepare technical approaches and cost estimates in response to job order requests.

  • Identify, coordinate, and ensure effective management of subcontractors.

  • Prepare cost estimates by obtaining price quotes from material suppliers and subcontractors, organizing quotes.

  • Develop project schedules with assistance of the Superintendent to establish defined critical path that meets all project and contract requirements.

  • Monitor project schedules and periodic revisions ensuring project stays on track to meet client deliverables and project objectives.

  • Manage scope in accordance to contract and coordinate any change requests with customer, contracting authority, and upper management prior to performing work out of scope.

  • Work with the Superintendent to identify and resolve any project related issues/changes.

  • Obtain customer's acceptance of the work and document all turnover activities.

  • Prepare and submit final project reports.

  • Conduct and review performance appraisals of assigned personnel in accordance with approved procedures

  • Identify staffing needs, recruit, interview, and hire individuals to fill open positions

  • Responsible for adhering to company policies and communicating policies to employees assigned on applicable projects.

  • Ensure site safety is at the forefront of each project.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in the Construction field, with at least five (5) of those 10 years of experience in construction management,
  • Possess an associate degree in one of the following disciplines: Engineering, Architecture, Construction Science, Business Management, or Construction Management.
  • Experience in Federal government construction contracts

Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive understanding of and familiarity with the principles, methods, and techniques of architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering.
  • Knowledge of government contracting, familiarity with FARS, DFARS, SBA regulations, programs, and contract proposal preparation.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced conducting construction on Federal installations, to include all environmental and preservation implications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work professionally and courteously with all levels of personnel.
  • Superior organizational skills, capable of prioritizing and managing multiple projects with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including thorough knowledge of proper grammar, advanced vocabulary, spelling, editing, and proofreading skills. Proficiency in the use of computers, including databases and spreadsheet programs. Strong Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a team; ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prepare a detailed proposal, including narratives, from start to finish.
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines with respect to cost estimates and submitting proposals.
  • Ability to evaluate project risk and determine mitigation strategies.

Special Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

  • Experience and working knowledge of RSMeans Estimating, and e4Clicks

  • OSHA 30 - Certification

  • Quality Construction Management for Contractors – Certification
