Chris Cooney has a varied work experience, beginning in 2012 with a part-time job as a Cocktail Waiter at Walrus Bar. In the same year, they began teaching guitar as a self-employed individual. In 2013, they took a position as a Java Developer Student Placement at SIS Betting, followed by roles as a Junior Java Developer and Java Developer. In 2016, they became a Principal Software Engineer at Sainsbury's Digital, Tech and Data, and was later promoted to Senior Software Engineer. In 2019, they took on a role as a Senior Software Engineer at Upside Energy, as well as becoming a Freelance Tech Writer as a self-employed individual. In 2020, they became a Principal Engineer - Hosting, Connectivity & Tooling at Sainsbury's Digital, Tech and Data, and also founded WriteOps Ltd. Finally, they began working as a Developer Advocate at Coralogix in 2020 and 2022.

Chris Cooney attended Marple Hall School from 2004 to 2009. From 2009 to 2011, they attended Aquinas College and obtained a Maths. Computing, Philosophy degree. Chris then attended Salford University from 2011 to 2015, where they obtained a 1st Class BSc(Hons) Computer Science in the field of Computer Science. In 2016, they obtained a Certified Scrum Master certification from agil8.
