Mark Gibson has a long and varied career in the geoscience industry. Mark began their career in 1990 as a Field Officer for Anglo American Prospecting Services, where they worked on gold targeted surface geological exploration. In 1991, they were promoted to Senior Geologist at AngloGold Ashanti, where they managed geological services and interpreted the 1993 Western Deep Levels 3D seismic survey. In 1997, they were promoted again to Section Geologist at AngloGold Ashanti. In 1999, they founded GeoScience Solutions, where they provided geoscientific project management and interpretation services to resource companies. In 2006, they were hired as Manager of Geosciences for Anglo American Technical Services, where they managed geoscience projects applied to exploration and mine development sites. In 2011, they were hired as Chief Operating Officer and CEO of High Power Exploration, where they managed and administered the company's global operations and was a control person for its public investments. In 2016, they were hired as Chief Operating Officer of Kaizen Discovery, where they operated an ongoing exploration program. In 2017, they were hired as Chief Operating Officer of Cordoba Minerals Corp., where they led the Cordoba owners team to deliver the Pre-Feasibility Study on the Alacran deposit. In 2021, they were hired as Director of Fjordland Exploration Inc. and Chief Operating Officer of Ivanhoe Electric, where they are responsible for the Company's operations, including its proprietary Typhoon geophysical system, and represents the Company in management of its controlled investments and subsidiaries.

Mark Gibson obtained a B.Sc. (Hons) in Geology from the University of Southampton between 1987 and 1990. Mark then went on to pursue an M.Sc. in Geophysics from the University of Leeds, which they completed in 1997. In April 2022, Mark was awarded the professional designation of P.Geo. from Engineers and Geoscientists BC. Mark also holds the designation of SACNASP.
