Fatema Ruma, Ph.D., is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Coriell Institute for Medical Research, specializing in the functional study of domesticated transposable element proteins. Previously, Fatema served as a Graduate Research Assistant at The University of Texas at Arlington from August 2016 to September 2022, working on a project funded by an NSF grant that explored the domestication of transposable element genes as regulators of developmental innovation in Drosophila melanogaster. Fatema Ruma also holds a Ph.D. in the same field from The University of Texas at Arlington (2021), alongside a Master’s and Bachelor's degree in Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.
