Alexandra Mitchell

Principal Scientist

Alexandra Mitchell is a Principal Scientist at Corning Incorporated, where since July 2016, Alexandra has led a team focused on developing innovative materials and processes to address climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Alexandra has extensive experience in Glass Research, including inventing new glasses and glass ceramics, and has worked on multiple research projects across various divisions within Corning. Prior to her role at Corning, Alexandra completed a PhD in Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where research focused on hydrous petrologic processes in subduction zones. Additional experience includes roles at Yale University as an undergraduate researcher and teaching assistant, as well as internships and positions related to science education and coaching.
