Derick Brown has dedicated their career to public service. Derick began their career as a police officer with the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD). After several years of serving the SFPD, Derick transitioned into a new role as the Senior Community Engagement Advisor. In this role, they worked to ensure that the SFPD was meeting its commitment to working in partnership with the communities of San Francisco. Derick also was responsible for fundraising efforts for community events, marketing and promotion of community initiatives, establishing partnerships between external agencies and private sector entities, and evaluating opportunities for sponsorships and advertising.
In September 2018, Derick left the SFPD to take on a new role as the Director at Coro Northern California. In this role, they are responsible for leading the organization’s programming and operations. Derick also manages a team of staff and fellows who work on a variety of civic engagement projects.
Derick’s passion for public service has led him to a successful career in which they have made a positive impact on the lives of many people.
Derick Brown received their Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy Analysis and American Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. Derick then went on to receive their Associate of Arts in Counseling Psychology from City College of San Francisco.
