Jonathan Morton, CISSP

Jonathan Morton, CISSP, has extensive experience in the field of information security and risk management. Jonathan is currently working as a Senior Associate at CORTAC Group, where they focus on Risk Management Framework Security Engineering and DFARS compliance assessments. Prior to this, Jonathan was a Lead Cybersecurity Instructor at ThriveDX (formerly HackerU), where they provided guidance and training in cybersecurity.

Jonathan has also worked as an Incident Response Engineer at Insight Global (T-Mobile), where they developed Incident Response Playbooks for a mobile network Intrusion Detection system. Before that, they served as an Incident Response Analyst and Coordinator at Milliman, where they utilized their extensive training in computer and system security gained during their 21-year career in the US Navy.

In their earlier career, Jonathan held various roles in information security and system administration in the US Navy. Jonathan served as a U.S. Navy Information Security Manager, Senior Information Security Analyst, and Cryptographic Key Manager on the USS DEFENDER (MCM-2). Jonathan also served as a U.S. Navy Information Security Analyst and System Administrator on USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63). Prior to this, Jonathan worked as a U.S. Navy Commander Naval Forces, Japan System Administrator at the Japan Regional Network Operations Center.

Jonathan's experience in the field includes developing playbooks, implementing security frameworks, supervising personnel, and providing technical support. Jonathan has a strong background in risk management, incident response, and compliance assessments.

Jonathan Morton, CISSP, is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Business Administration, Management, and Operations at the Jack Welch Management Institute, with an expected completion date in 2022. Prior to this, they obtained a Bachelor's of Science degree in Information Technology/Information Systems Security from the University of Phoenix, where they attended from 2005 to 2015. In terms of additional certifications, Jonathan has achieved the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)² in October 2021. Jonathan also acquired the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in January 2022 and completed a Diversity, Inclusion, & Sensitivity course from Traliant in May 2022.
