Declan Hovenden

Declan Hovenden is an experienced optometry professional currently serving as a Member of the Health and Social Care Professionals Council and as a Board Member on the Optical Registration Board at CORU since March 2019. Responsibilities include public protection through the establishment of registers for optometrists and dispensing opticians, assessment of qualifications, and guidance on professional conduct and continuing education. Hovenden also holds the position of Head of Optometry at Technological University Dublin and has been a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Optometric Clinical Practice since January 2021. Additionally, Hovenden's extensive background includes roles at Dublin Institute of Technology and Wellington Eye Clinic, alongside notable educational achievements in medical retina, health informatics, and optometry from prestigious institutions.
