Dean Thompson

Dean Thompson is a seasoned professional in the optical industry with extensive experience in various roles. Currently serving as a Public Speaker for Alcon since April 2024, Dean educates opticians in Alberta on product knowledge related to contact lenses. Holding the position of Chair Of The Board Of Directors for the Association of Opticians of Alberta since April 2022, Dean oversees the transition of the association to a standalone entity. Additionally, Dean chairs the Vision Care Program Advisory Committee at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) and has contributed as an adjunct faculty instructor in Business Development, Sales and Marketing for student opticians. Dean's career includes significant roles at Costco Wholesale as a Licensed Optician and prior management experience in optical retail environments. Dean is also recognized for contributions to the educational development of future opticians through various advisory and supervisory roles.
