Johnny Avant

Johnny Avant's work experience begins in 2015 with co-op roles at Ethicon, Inc., where they gained experience in both front-end R&D and general R&D. In 2016, they worked as an Asthma Research Co-op at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, where they developed a department-wide Manual of Six Operating Procedures and standardized organization procedures for maintaining a biorepository system.

In 2017, Johnny Avant continued their work at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center as an Orthopedic Research Co-op, optimizing a TestWorks program and utilizing MATLAB for image processing. Johnny also worked as a Data Scientist at the University of Cincinnati's Digital Scholarship Center, where they conducted data cleaning, analysis, and visualization, developed vector space and topic models, and applied network theory to Twitter data.

Johnny Avant joined GE Aviation in 2019 as part of their Digital Technology Leadership Program. As a Data Engineer in the Chief Data Office Organization, they standardized the cost entitlement audit process and built a text parser in Python. Johnny later took on the role of Technical Product Owner in the Digital Supply Chain, leading a team in delivering solutions for ERP releases.

Currently, Johnny Avant works at CoStrategix as a Senior Data Scientist. In this role, they have undertaken various responsibilities, including hosting webinars, implementing formalized project management methodologies, productionalizing computer vision models, upgrading time series models, presenting at conferences, writing blogs, and designing workflows for improved data storytelling.

Johnny Avant completed their Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in the years 2013-2019. Following this, they pursued a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Computer Science from the same university in 2018-2019. In November 2019, Johnny also obtained the Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification from the Scrum Alliance.
