A senior executive with diverse experience at the highest levels of government, John is dedicated to natural resources conservation, environmental protection, and sustainable outcomes. He is an accomplished and multi-talented leader who brings a wide array of skills in multiple sectors to Council Fire's client base. His holistic approach to conservation means he understands that achieving change means engaging diverse stakeholders. He enjoys his time with his five children and three granddaughters.

John has 40+ years of experience in conservation, governance, and public policy in addition to extensive organizational and financial management skills. Prior to joining Council Fire, John’s career included service as the Chief of Staff for Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, and General Manager of the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, among other leadership positions. He has received numerous awards including Admiral of the Chesapeake.
