Scott Burns has a 30-year career spanning the globe and a wide array of sectors, Scott is well-positioned to help purpose-driven organizations chart a path toward more concrete and achievable conservation goals. After years spent developing sustainable oceans programs, Scott has achieved diverse and broad successes in numerous contexts and thrives on doing the same for the clients. His unique expertise in ocean policy and market-based conservation has been built in a variety of settings, enabling him to provide actionable insights to a wide array of clients and their challenges.
Prior to joining Council Fire, Scott served as the Director of the Walton Family Foundation’s Conservation Program, where he led a half-billion-dollar grant-making effort focused on healthy oceans and river systems, and Director of the Global Oceans Program with World Wildlife Fund US. Scott also serves as a Fellow at the Stanford Center for Oceans Solutions. He has helped lead many important international, national and regional conservation policy initiatives and has been a major contributor to the development of key private sector fisheries conservation partnerships, including the Marine Stewardship Council.
