Neo Moabi has extensive work experience in the field of geoscience. They have been working at the Council for Geoscience since 2008, holding multiple roles. These roles include Chief Scientist in the Minerals and Energy division, where they conduct advanced geoscience investigations and research, lead data mining and interpretation, and contribute to South Africa's developmental initiatives. They have also served as a Geologist, conducting integrated geoscience investigations and research, interpreting scientific data, and presenting reports internally and at international conferences. In addition, Neo has management experience as an Acting Stream Lead for Geological Mapping. They have expertise in geological mapping, stratigraphy, structural and economic geology, and fault investigations. Neo has a strong publication record, having published geological map sheet explanations.
Neo Moabi has a Master's Degree in Geology/Earth Science, General from the University of Pretoria, which was completed from 2014 to 2015. Prior to that, they obtained a BSC (hons) in the same field of study from the same university, which was completed from 2004 to 2007.
