Niamh Sheehan

Political Assistant (ast) at Council of the European Union

Niamh Sheehan currently serves as a Political Assistant within the Council of the European Union, focusing on various areas including RELEX, CONOP, COARM, Dual Use Goods WP, and EUMCWG/HTF since November 2022. Prior to this role, Niamh gained experience as a Trainee at the German Marshall Fund of the United States in late 2022 and completed a Blue Book Traineeship at the European Commission earlier that year. Niamh also worked as a Clerical Officer for the Health Service Executive and was involved in student ambassador roles at UCC Career Services and University College Cork. Additional teaching roles include serving as a Teaching Leader and Local Teacher for EF Education First and working as an English Language Assistant at the TUFS English Learning Center. Niamh holds an MSc in International Public Policy and Diplomacy and a BA in Arts International, with a focus on Political Science and Government from University College Cork, supplemented by an exchange year at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.
