Jieun Baek

Jieun Baek is a Non-resident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, focusing on the Indo-Pacific Security Initiative, and serves as a Term Member at the Council on Foreign Relations. Jieun is the Founder and Co-director of Lumen, a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing information access in closed societies, particularly North Korea. As Director of Labs at Liberty in North Korea and former Research Manager at the Harvard Carr Center for Human Rights Policy, Jieun has contributed to various research initiatives. Past experience includes a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Harvard's Belfer Center and a Research Fellowship at Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center, where Jieun authored a book published by Yale University Press. Jieun's career began at Google as an Account Manager, focusing on information access for North Korean defectors. Academic credentials include a PhD in Public Policy from the University of Oxford, a Master's in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School, and a Bachelor's in Government from Harvard University.
