Michael Jones

Michael Jones currently serves as the County Administrator for Island County, WA, since July 2022. Prior to this role, Michael held the position of City Manager for the City of Blaine, WA, from June 2018 to July 2022, overseeing departmental management, budgeting, and community development initiatives. Michael's earlier experience includes serving as the Community Development Services Director for the City of Blaine from 2008 to 2018, where responsibilities encompassed building regulation, planning, and public engagement, as well as a tenure as a Senior Planner for the City of Ferndale from 2003 to 2007. Michael also worked as an Environmental Analyst for Sacramento County and an Instructor at the Washington Engineering Institute, focusing on land use and zoning education. Michael holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Washington and completed the Senior Executive Institute at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, among other academic qualifications in Geography and Hospitality Administration.
