Joel Ayala is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in economic development and community advocacy. Currently serving as Chief Deputy Director at the County of Los Angeles Department of Consumer and Business Affairs since April 2016, Joel Ayala oversees a range of department functions including Minimum Wage Enforcement and Consumer Counseling. Previously, as Statewide Liaison for the California Small Business Development Center Leadership Council, Ayala supported over 65,000 small businesses across the state. Also notable is the role as the first Director of the California Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development, appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger. Joel Ayala has held significant leadership positions, including President & CEO of the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce and the Orange County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, advocating for the Hispanic business community. Beginning a career in the Adult Education sector, Ayala managed corporate training programs, and earlier served as a Deputy Probation Counselor at the County of Orange Probation Department. Joel Ayala holds dual Bachelor's degrees in Social Ecology and Political Science from UC Irvine.
