Sahar Shirazi

Sahar Shirazi is an accomplished professional in the fields of planning and policy, currently serving as Principal Planner for the County of Marin since July 2025 and as an Adjunct Professor at Mills College since August 2021. With extensive experience, Sahar has held significant roles including Planning Commissioner for the City of Oakland from May 2018 to April 2025, and Partner at Cityfi from July 2023 to November 2024. Prior positions include Principal and Co-lead of a mobility innovation lab at Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates, and Policy and Planning Lead at WSP USA, where expertise focused on autonomous vehicles and emerging mobility solutions. Sahar’s background also includes serving as Senior Planning Advisor at the Governor's Office of Planning and Research and as a Policy Analyst at the US Department of Transportation. Educational achievements consist of a Master's Degree in Public Policy from Mills College and dual Bachelor's Degrees in English Literature and English Language and Literature from the University of California, Berkeley.
