Matt Propp

Matt Propp has extensive experience in the field of emergency response and management. Matt currently serves as the Fire Chief for Valencia County, NM, leading a combination fire department with 8 stations. In addition, they hold the position of Chairman of the Board for the New Mexico HazMat Safety Board.

Their previous roles include serving as an ICS Instructor and a HazMat/WMD Instructor for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Matt also worked as a Tactical Paramedic for the UNM EMS Consortium/NM State Police.

Furthermore, Matt has experience as an Emergency Manager for Torrance County, NM, and as a Battalion Chief for Sandoval County, NM. Prior to these positions, they worked as a Lieutenant/Paramedic for Bernalillo County.

Matt has also contributed to the field through their role as an Instructor for the National Center for Biomedical Research/LSU, specifically in the Active Threat Integrated Response Course (ATIRC).

Earlier in their career, Matt served as the HazMat/Weapons of Mass Destruction Team Manager for FEMA and held a law enforcement position for the State of New Mexico.

Matt Propp's education history begins with their attendance at Albuquerque High School, though the specific dates are unknown. Following high school, they enrolled at West Clayton University in 2001 and completed their studies in 2005. During this time, they pursued a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a focus on Business Administration and Management. Upon completion of their undergraduate studies, Matt attended Central New Mexico Community College, where they pursued an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Emergency Medical Technology/Technician (EMT Paramedic).
