Chris Spence

Chris Spence is an experienced Operations Area Manager at Covanta, where responsibilities include overseeing four waste-to-energy facilities with a total capacity of 5,700 tons per day and an electrical generation of 130 MW. In previous roles at Covanta, Chris served as Facility Manager, managing operations and financial forecasting for a 1,000 ton per day facility, and as O&M Manager, overseeing daily operations at a 690 ton per day energy from waste facility. Chris has also held positions at Tampa Electric, MidAmerican Energy Company, and Rev1, with roles focusing on process engineering and project management. Chris began a career in engineering as an Assistant Engineer at Weston, monitoring daily operations at a large refuse-derived-fuel cogeneration plant. Chris holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University, obtained in 1993.
