Stephen Onnen

Stephen Onnen has a diverse work experience spanning over 15 years. Stephen is currently working as a Lead DevOps Engineer at Coviance since March 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Software Engineer at Source Allies Inc. from July 2019 to February 2023.

Before transitioning to the software industry, Stephen served in the US Army for several years in various roles. Stephen was a Ranger Instructor from July 2014 to November 2017, during which they maintained and updated administrative systems for Ranger School classes. Stephen also developed a Microsoft Access database for tracking student administrative boards. Stephen served as a Sniper Section Leader from November 2010 to July 2014, responsible for the training and development of a ten-person sniper section and the execution of sniper capabilities during combat operations.

Stephen's Army career started as an Infantryman in June 2006, where they held positions such as Rifleman, Squad Automatic Rifleman, Radio Telephone Operator, and Fire-Team Leader. Stephen actively pursued self-development through military schooling, becoming one of the few Ranger Qualified enlisted personnel in an organization of over 800.

In addition to their military experience, Stephen also worked as a Junior Developer at Intuitive Technology Group from November 2017 to June 2019. In this role, they assisted clients during discovery, developed complex web applications using Flask and Django, and created RESTful backend services. Stephen also developed automation solutions for clients using SaltStack.

Stephen Onnen earned an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree from Rio Salado College between 2015 and 2017. Stephen then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Software Engineering at Iowa State University, completing it from 2017 to 2019.
