Brian Seyfried

Managing Director & Head, Risk at Cowen Group

Brian Seyfried is the current Managing Director & Head of Risk at Cowen Group. Brian has over 25 years of experience in the financial industry, with a focus on risk management and proprietary trading.

Brian began their career in 1991 as a consultant at PwC. In 1993, they joined Goldman Sachs as an Associate in the Fixed Income and Proprietary Trading divisions. Brian spent three years at Goldman Sachs before moving to Enron in 1997. At Enron, Brian built and managed a global proprietary trading unit of 85 people. Brian left Enron in 2002 after the company's collapse.

From 2002 to 2009, Brian worked at Dresdner Kleinwort, first as Managing Director - Head of Capital Markets Americas, responsible for Fixed Income, Equity and Currency Sales and Trading in North and South America, including a 30-person Brazilian sales and trading team. Brian then became Managing Director - Head of Credit Trading. In 2009, they left Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein when the company was acquired by Commerzbank AG.

In 2010, Brian joined Cowen Group as Managing Director & Head of Risk. Brian currently oversees all risk management activities for the firm.

Brian Seyfried has a MBA from Tulane University's A.B. Freeman School of Business and a BA in Math from Wabash College.

They work with Daniel Charney - Managing Director & Co-President, Cowen & Company, Robert Fagin - Managing Director & Head, Research & Kyber Data Science, and Stephen Lasota - Managing Director & CFO. Brian Seyfried reports to Jeffrey M. Solomon, CEO.
