Rafael Rey Meléndez has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles.
From 2005 to 2005, they worked as an Undergraduate Engineer at Autoridad Portuaria de las Islas Baleares.
In 2006, they joined Construcciones Sarrión as a Production Engineer before moving on to IBERINSA (ACCIONA) the same year. At IBERINSA, they held the position of Marine Engineer, where their responsibilities included implementing port planning and design projects, conducting design and calculations of maritime structures, and performing geotechnical stability studies.
Since 2009, Rafael has been employed at COWI, where they have held various roles. These include Marine Structural Engineer/Project Coordinator (2009-2013), Project Manager (2013-2017), Chief Project Manager (2017-2019), Head of Section (2018-2019), Leading Project Manager (2019-present), and most recently, Market Director (2021-present).
Throughout their career, Rafael Rey Meléndez has gained extensive experience and expertise in the field of marine engineering, project management, and port planning and design.
Rafael Rey Meléndez completed their Bsc in International Business from Copenhagen Business School from 2011 to 2015. Prior to that, they pursued an Advanced course in Leadership in Civil Engineering from Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha in 2005. From 2000 to 2005, they obtained a Licenciatura in Ingeniería Superior de Caminos, Canales y Puertos from the same university. In 2003 and 2004, Rafael studied Civil Engineering as part of their MsC degree at Imperial College London.
