Kate Arrizza

Kate Arrizza has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Kate began their career as the Director of Communications for the USS Carr (FFG 52) where they led a 12-person team in developing and executing the ship's communication plan. Kate then served as the Assistant Director of Operations for the same ship and was responsible for managing 70 personnel and overseeing the operational schedule.

Kate later joined the USS Tortuga (LSD 46) as the Director of Training, where they were responsible for managing the naval school requirements and coordinating all training events for 350 personnel. Kate also developed and managed a $600,000 training travel budget.

After their time in the Navy, Kate transitioned to the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium, where they held multiple roles. Kate initially served as the Director of Education and Exhibits, overseeing a team of Science Educators and managing educational grant implementation. Kate then took on the role of Chief Operating Officer, where they coached and developed the senior management team and implemented training programs to expand the capacity of all staff. Kate also prepared and managed the annual operational budget and reported on progress and challenges. Currently, they serve as the President & CEO of the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium.

Prior to their work at the Science Center, Kate served in the US Navy as a Division Officer Leadership Instructor, training over 250 personnel in officer leadership and managing training teams for leadership curriculum implementation.

Kate Arrizza received their Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the United States Naval Academy, where they studied from 1999 to 2003. Kate went on to pursue a Master of Arts degree in Museum Studies from The Johns Hopkins University between 2010 and 2012.
