Dean Mortenson

Dean Mortenson has over 20 years of work experience in the field of mechanical engineering and commissioning. Their most recent position was as a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer at CPG starting in 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Seven Generations Architecture and Engineering, LLC as a Commissioning Specialist/RCx Mechanical Engineer from 2022 to 2023. Dean also worked at NIKA Solutions as a Field Energy Engineer from 2018 to 2022. Before that, they were a Commissioning Engineer at Vertiv Co from 2016 to 2018 and a System Engineer at Johnson Controls for a brief period in 2016. Their experience also includes roles as a Retro-Commissioning Field Supervisor at Atkins from 2014 to 2016, a Commissioning Manager at Farnsworth Group, Inc. from 2008 to 2014, and a Controls/Mechanical Engineer at AE Associates Inc. for a short period in 2008. Dean started their career as a Lead System Specialist at Johnson Controls from 2000 to 2008 and as a Project Engineer at Los Alamos Technical Associates from 1998 to 2000. Dean Mortenson's work primarily involves commissioning, retro-commissioning, and field energy engineering for HVAC systems in government facilities. Dean has hands-on experience in field data collection for energy audits, setting up and implementing testing of mechanical and control systems, inspecting installations, and writing commissioning plans and reports. Dean is also skilled in writing sequence of operations, functional performance tests, deficiency reports, and final commissioning reports. Furthermore, they have experience in DDC programming and controls engineering services.

Dean Mortenson holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. In addition to their degree, they have obtained several certifications, including OSHA 30 from OSHA in April 2016, Qualified Commissioning Provider from UW-Madison Continuing Studies in February 2017, and Professional Engineer from the State of Colorado in November 2021.
