Prior to Craftsmen, Mahmudul served as the Head of R&D and Managing Director for the Bangladesh subsidiary of Freightos Ltd. During their time there, they successfully established the Bangladesh entity as a fully-functioning subsidiary and managed three key departments: R&D, Sales, and Customer Support. Mahmudul also mentored the local R&D team, resulting in the successful development and delivery of multiple projects.

Before Freightos, Mahmudul held the position of Managing Director at Vizrt Bangladesh, where they oversaw the overall business and affairs of the company. Mahmudul implemented strategies for operational management and development, coordinated with various departments, and led corporate social responsibility initiatives. Mahmudul also served as the Head of R&D, managing a team of engineers across product lines and implementing agile development methods. Mahmudul's notable achievements at Vizrt Bangladesh include establishing a new legal entity in Bangladesh and introducing comprehensive healthcare coverage for employees and their dependents.

Earlier in their career, Mahmudul worked as a Senior Software Engineer at The Jaxara It Ltd, where they displayed strong leadership skills and managed the development and quality of projects. Mahmudul also worked as a Software Engineer at IMS Health, contributing to major projects and collaborating with international teams. Additionally, Mahmudul worked as a Software Developer at Softalk Online (PVT) LTD, where they played a significant role in creating a widely-used web service application in Bangladesh.

Mahmudul Haque Azad began their education in 2000 at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, where they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science and Engineering. Mahmudul completed their undergraduate studies in 2006. In 2007, Azad obtained a certification in Project Management from the CADD Centre. A year later, in 2008, they achieved the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) certification from Microsoft Inc. After a gap, Azad returned to their studies in 2016 and enrolled in North South University to pursue an Executive MBA. Mahmudul completed their studies in Business Administration and Management, with a focus on Finance, in 2018.
