Blake Messer has worked in various roles in the tech industry since 2008. In 2008, they worked as an Economic Analyst at Intensity, LLC, where they constructed econometric models and identified, collected, and synthesized research on market structure, conduct of market participants, and competitive performance. In 2010, they worked as a Technology Development Intern at DiscoverHope Fund, where they were awarded a William H. Crook Fellowship of International Affairs and created and taught beginner and intermediate level computer and Internet literacy curricula. Blake also worked as a Teaching Assistant (Intro to Management) at the University of Texas at Austin, where they held office hours, provided student support, and administered and graded homework assignments, exams, and quizzes. In 2011, they worked as a Research Associate at LBJ School, where they wrote a series of Python spiders to aggregate data from web archives of semiconductor hardware prices. From 2012 to 2014, they worked at Demand Media in various roles, including Senior Software Engineer, Software Engineer, and Software Engineering Manager. Finally, they worked at Cratejoy from 2014 to present, where they have held the roles of VP of Engineering, Senior Director of Engineering, Software Engineering Manager, and Staff Software Engineer.

Blake Messer attended Bellaire High School from 2001 to 2004. Blake then went on to The University of Texas at Austin and obtained a B.A. in Economics between 2005 and 2008. After that, they attended The University of Texas at Austin - LBJ School of Public Affairs and obtained an MGPS in Technology Policy from 2009 to 2011. Blake then returned to The University of Texas at Austin and obtained a Masters of Electrical and Computer Engineering in Software Engineering from 2014 to 2016. Most recently, they obtained a Registered Yoga Teacher certification from Practice Yoga Austin in 2020-2021.
