Grímur Sæmundsson

Grímur Sæmundsson has a diverse range of experience in the field of data and AI, working for various companies over the years. Grímur is currently employed at Crayon as a Data & AI Lead. Prior to this, Grímur worked as a Teacher at the Open University of Reykjavik University. Grímur also served as a Lead BI Consultant at Visolit, where they conducted feasibility studies and implemented Power BI reporting environments. At KPMG Norway, Grímur held the position of Manager in the KPMG Lighthouse division. Additionally, they worked as a Senior Consultant at RAV Norge AS. In 2019, Grímur held the role of Lead Data Scientist at Icelandair, leading a team of data scientists and overseeing the implementation of Power BI. Earlier in their career, they worked at Deloitte as a Ráðgjafi and at Sjóvá-Almennar tryggingar hf as a Sérfærðingur, where they led teams, developed data warehouses, and created OLAP cubes. Grímur also worked as a Microsoft BI Consultant at Sjónarrönd and Umoe Consulting, where they gained experience in BI development, consultancy, and T-SQL programming.

Grímur Sæmundsson completed their Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at Háskóli Íslands from 1989 to 1994. Grímur then pursued Systems Analysis in Computer Science at Reykjavik University from 1994 to 1998. Later, from 2002 to 2005, they attended Heriot-Watt University. Additionally, they obtained several certifications from Microsoft, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Enterprise Data Analyst Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure IoT Developer Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals, Microsoft Certified Trainer 2021-2022, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate, DP-200 Implementing an Azure Data Solution, and Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals. Grímur also obtained Generative AI Fundamentals certification from Google in 2023.
