Matt Dennis is a veteran communications strategist with 15 years of experience on Capitol Hill and on political campaigns.
Matt leads CRD Associates’ communications practice, and focuses on helping corporations, advocacy groups, and other organizations communicate effectively on federal funding, policy, and other issues through message development, media training and media relations, crisis communications, speechwriting, internal communications, and social media. He also develops and executes lobbying and government relations strategies for corporations, associations, and nonprofits that advance critical public policies and get results.
Prior to joining CRD Associates, Matt was the Communications Director for the House Appropriations Committee Democrats where he served as public spokesperson and managed media relations for the Ranking Member and Committee Democrats on legislation appropriating more than $1 trillion in federal spending each year. He previously served as Communications Director in the personal office of Rep. Nita Lowey, Chairwoman of the Appropriations State and Foreign Operations Subcommittee, which manages $50 billion in annual discretionary funding for U.S. diplomatic and development priorities. He also served as Communications Director for Rep. Rush Holt (D-NJ), and on several political campaigns.
Matt has published opinion columns on federal policy issues in national newspapers; has been quoted by national print, online, and broadcast media outlets; and has guest lectured on political communications at institutions of higher education.
Matt holds a Master of Public Policy from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in Government from the University of Virginia.
