Bjorn W. has a strong background in open-source software and open standards. Bjorn has held various positions throughout their career, including being a board member for NLUUG, where they represented the interests of users of open standards-based software. Bjorn W. also served as the chapter lead for Creative Commons in the Netherlands and was a board member for Open Nederland.

In 2004, Bjorn W. founded Burobjorn, a company that specializes in realizing ideas and wishes with the use of free, open-source software, open standards, and open content. Bjorn is an expert in custom WordPress projects and provides services ranging from advice and concept development to rapid prototyping and final implementations.

Bjorn W. is also a founder of BEEA (previously known as HackersNL), a monthly event in Utrecht, the Netherlands, that brings together technology enthusiasts. Bjorn co-founded Stichting Open Media, an organization focused on promoting creativity and knowledge sharing within various media forms, particularly through the online music platform Simuze.

Prior to their entrepreneurial ventures, Bjorn W. worked at Waag Society, where they initially served as a backend developer before transitioning into a frontend developer role. Additionally, they worked as a supervisor at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht, where they mentored and coached students in real-world projects.

Bjorn W. obtained a Bachelor's degree in Multimedia Design and Technology (MDT) from Saxion University of Applied Sciences in 2002. Bjorn then pursued a Master's degree in Interactive Multimedia from HKU (Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht) and completed it in 2002.
