David Shaffer is an experienced professional currently serving as the Director of Specialist Resources for the Western Region at the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) since August 2009. In this role, David directs, coordinates, and conducts Information Security & Technology examinations at large credit unions and entities with significant cybersecurity issues, having previously served as a National Information Systems Officer and a Regional Information Systems Officer. David is also an Excellence in Government Fellow, participating in a leadership development program for federal employees from April 2023 to March 2024. Prior experience includes roles as a Staff Auditor at Swartrz, Retson & Co. and as a Chemical Analyst at United States Steel. Educational qualifications include an MBA in Business Administration from Purdue University and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Indiana University Northwest.
