Katherine Chenier

Director of Evaluation & Appraisal, Crescent City Schools at Crescent City Schools

Dr. Katherine Chenier is the Director of Evaluation and Appraisal at Crescent City Schools. She has served in this role since 2017. Katherine originally joined the Crescent City Schools team as the Director of Intervention and Evaluation at Akili Academy in 2013. While at Akili, Katherine coordinated academic intervention services and special education evaluations to best serve some of Akili’s most vulnerable scholars. A licensed school psychologist, Katherine holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Tufts University and a doctorate in school psychology from Louisiana State University. After completing extra undergraduate coursework at Tulane University, Katherine was inspired to pursue a career that combined her study of psychology with her passion for education in her hometown of New Orleans. Katherine taught special education at a local elementary school through the TeachNOLA program. She then pursued her doctorate in school psychology at Louisiana State University. During her doctorate studies she was able to provide consultative and direct intervention services to a wide range of elementary schools in Baton Rouge, including schools dedicated to serving students with hearing and visual impairments, as well as developmental delays. Katherine presented her research on behavior interventions for internalizing and externalizing disorders at multiple national conferences and her Master’s thesis was published in a journal of school psychology.
