Karl Prout

Karl Prout has extensive work experience in the field of process safety engineering. Karl most recently worked as a Senior Process Safety Engineer at Crescent Petroleum starting in 2022. Before that, they held the position of Process Safety Technical Authority at px Group from 2021 to 2022 and at WSP in the UK from 2021 to 2021. Prior to that, Karl worked at PX Group from 2018 to 2021 in various roles including Process Safety Technical Authority and SHE Operations Engineer. Karl also has experience working at SABIC as a Process Engineer and Assistant Plant Manager from 2012 to 2018, at SembCorp Utilities as a Performance Engineer from 2011 to 2012, at Johnson Matthey as a Research Scientist from 2006 to 2011, and at UNIQEMA LIMITED as a Trainee Scientist from 2004 to 2006.

Karl Prout's education history begins in 2004 when they attended Teesside University for two years, earning a HNC/HNC (University Certificate) in Chemistry. During the same period, they also participated in an Advanced Modern Apprenticeship for Young Scientists at Teesside Training Enterprise.

In 2007, Karl enrolled at Teesside University again and completed a two-year program, earning a FdTech in Chemical Process Technology.

Continuing their education, from 2009 to 2011, Karl pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Chemical Engineering at Teesside University.

After a gap, Karl attended The University of Sheffield from 2017 to 2019, where they obtained their MSc in Process Safety and Loss Prevention.

During their academic journey, Karl also received additional certifications. In March 2019, they obtained the CEng MIChemE certification from the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE). Furthermore, in February 2021, they received a certification in Layer of Protection Analysis from the Institution of Chemical Engineers.

Additionally, Karl has a Level 3 qualification in Management from ILM, though the specific dates of their completion are not provided.
