Beta Engineering is currently looking for a Transmission Line Engineer to join our team.  Transmission Line Engineers are responsible for the design of structures, foundations, and overhead wires for high voltage transmission lines (IE >46 kV).  TLEs are tasked with ensuring the designs and their applications are completed to code and standards set forth by appropriate authoritative bodies.  This includes structural requirements of structures and clearance requirements of overhead wires.  In addition, TLEs are required to work with customer representatives and Project Management Teams to ensure designs meet appropriate specifications, requirements, and deadlines.

COMPETENCIES: Customer Focus Decision Quality Business Insight Drives Results Collaborates Communicates Effectively Courage Instills Trust Manages Ambiguity   BETA CORE COMPETENCIES: Understanding the value of the customer Contributes to overall team success Continuous and applied learning Strategic Development Pride   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Designs and interprets drawings for the following:  transmission structures, transmission foundations, transmission hardware assemblies, underground pipe networks, grading, substation structures, foundations, overhead lines, lightning protection systems, and aluminum bus systems. Reviews drawings for substation equipment, vendor supplied equipment and customer standards. Ensures compliance with customer specifications and design codes. Checks PLS-CADD models, transmission line foundations, transmission structure electrical arrangement drawings and steel detail drawings. Problem solves issues related to design, construction, and compliance. Creates and checks material list descriptions for transmission lines. Answers technical questions posed by construction managers, field staff, customers, and their representatives. Recognizes and recommend methods to improve every customer’s experience. Travels periodically to both customer offices for project meetings and to job sites for construction visits.   EXPECTATIONS: Performs quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.  Interacts professionally with other employees and customers. Communicates regularly with project teams regarding designs, concerns, studies, or tests Participates in continued education and training Occasional overnight travel to active job sites Must have clean driving record as use of company vehicles is a requirement of position   EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years of experience designing transmission line systems. Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering is required.  PE is required Strong background in PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, MFAD or LPile, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required; strong verbal and written communication skills are required.

COMPENSATION: $81,940 - $133,867 per year (potential for beyond scale)

Salary range is estimated. Actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications and application of any geographic salary differential.
