Janne Taalas is currently the Chief Executive Officer at CMI — Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation since May 2021. Before that, Janne worked at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland from 2008 to 2021, holding various ambassadorial roles including Cyber Diplomacy and as an Ambassador to Italy, Malta, and San Marino. Janne had also served as the Special Envoy for the 2020 Afghanistan Conference and as the Deputy Permanent Representative. Janne's previous roles also included serving as Director for Policy Planning and Research at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. Janne holds a DPhil in Politics and an MPhil in European Politics from the University of Oxford, as well as a Licentiate in Politics from the University of Jyväskylä.
