Sven Jacobson

Board Member, Cofounder at Critical Diagnostics

Sven Jacobson has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on founding and leading companies. In 2001, they became a Partner at Carrot Capital, where they oversaw the operations of the fund and founded five healthcare startups. Sven served as CEO and CFO for each of these companies during their development.

In 2004, Jacobson co-founded Critical Diagnostics, a company that develops biomarkers for cardiovascular diseases. Sven served as a Board Member and played a key role in the development of the Presage and Aspect-PLUS ST2 tests.

The following year, in 2005, Jacobson founded Remedy Pharmaceuticals, a privately-held company specializing in CNS-related illnesses and injuries. Sven served as CEO and helped advance cutting-edge science in the field.

Jacobson has also been actively involved in other organizations in various advisory and board member roles. Sven served on the Advisory Board of ReNetx.com from 2018 to 2021, and was a Board Member and Cofounder of Access Scientific, Inc. from 2004 to 2012. Sven also co-founded and served as a Board Member of Cure Therapeutics, Inc. from 2005 to 2007, and was a Board Member of Lean Forward Media, LLC from 2005 to 2007. Additionally, they served as a Board Observer at Motia from 2004 to 2005.

Most recently, in 2018, Jacobson co-founded Martin Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company focused on repurposing already-approved drugs to benefit patients facing different needs. Sven served as CEO and Cofounder before transitioning to their current role as CEO and Cofounder at Woolsey Pharmaceuticals, Inc., another pharmaceutical company.

Throughout their career, Jacobson has demonstrated a strong passion for improving patient lives and driving innovation in the pharmaceutical industry.

Sven Jacobson pursued their education at the University of the Witwatersrand. From 1988 to 1991, they completed a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus on Engineering. Following this, they furthered their education by obtaining a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management from the same university, which they completed in 1994.
