Job Summary:

Crooked is hiring for a Video Editor in the Production department reporting to a Senior Video Producer. This role will focus on editing a video version of Crooked’s daily news podcast, What a Day for YouTube. This role will require a shifted work schedule from Sunday through Thursday with 1:30pm - 10:00pm being the primary shift of work.

Crooked has adopted a hybrid work model for our entire staff. We believe that the best work is done in a hybrid capacity as it combines the flexibility of working from home with in person collaboration. We are looking for LA based candidates, or candidates willing to relocate within the first 3 months of accepting an offer. 

How You’ll Spend Your Time:

Converting What a Day into a Daily Video Product

  • Working with the video producer to edit the video version of the show each day
  • Adding elements like graphics, b-roll, and music when possible to make the video version more visually appealing 
  • Address any notes the producer may have on various drafts
  • Package video piece for uploading in quick turnaround time
  • Work with the social media team to pull and format clips from the full episode for social platforms

What You’ll Bring To The Table:

  • 2+ years as a professional video editor in the digital media space
  • High proficiency with Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, and other parts of the Adobe Suite
  • Experience cleaning up audio files for best possible audio quality
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and take notes from a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to deliver quality work on a tight schedule
  • Creativity with a flair for strong visual elements
  • Ability to bring humor to a video edit when called for
  • Thorough knowledge of timing, motivation and continuity
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Understanding of digital media files, organization and formatting 
  • A passion for news, politics, and popular culture

When we open up a position, we conduct a market analysis to ensure we have the most up-to-date data. Once we’re ready to extend an offer, we look at the individual’s years of relevant experience and other compensable factors to determine a competitive offer. And for this role, the starting salary range is $70,000 - $80,000.
