Vikas Chandan

Vikas Chandan has a significant amount of work experience in the field of data science and energy systems. Vikas started their career as an Intern at GE Global Research in 2005 and later worked as an Assistant Manager at Tata Motors in 2006. From 2007 to 2013, they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

In 2013, they joined IBM as a Research Scientist, where they led various projects in Smart Energy Systems and made significant contributions to data-driven modeling, control, and optimization of energy systems. Vikas received 9 patents, worldwide media coverage, and outstanding technical contribution awards for their work at IBM.

In 2016, they joined Pacific Northwest National Laboratory as a Senior Scientist and Team Leader. At this position, they led a diverse team of data scientists working on decarbonization across the energy sector. Vikas actively participated in cross-domain and cross-institution team building, business development, and organizational strategy development. Vikas also played a key role in international technical committees, societies, and working groups.

Currently, Vikas Chandan is working as a Senior Scientist at CrossnoKaye, starting in 2023.

Vikas Chandan completed their Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in the years 2002 to 2006. Vikas then pursued a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign between 2007 and 2009. Vikas further advanced their education by obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Science and Engineering from the same university from 2009 to 2012.
