VP, Infrastructure at Cruise

Vinoj Kumar is currently the VP of Infrastructure at Cruise Automation. Vinoj has previously worked as the Senior Director of Technical Infrastructure at Google from September 2006 to February 2021. In this role, they were responsible for the delivery of Cloud Infrastructure and Software Systems, including Machine Learning (TPU and GPUs), Servers & Storage, Optical Systems, Custom Silicon Accelerators, and Networking Infrastructure. From June 2005 to August 2006, Vinoj Kumar served as the CTO and Vice President of Software at Causeway Systems. In this role, they provided disruptive technology that enabled the shift in home networking driven by the convergence of entertainment, telephony and the Internet. Prior to Causeway Systems, Vinoj Kumar worked as the Senior Product Architect/Manager - Network Processor Division at Agere Inc (Start-up)/Lucent/Agere Systems from January 1998 to June 2005. Vinoj was an early employee of the company (fourth employee) and was responsible for developing the company's first SOC simulation system. Vinoj also worked extensively to develop a functional programming language (FPL) and the associated compilers and optimizers. After the company was acquired by Lucent, Vinoj Kumar worked with a broad cross-functional team to bring product to market. Vinoj also built a strong team in India.

Vinoj Kumar has a Master's in Computer Science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
