Thelma Abernethy

Thelma Abernethy currently serves as the Head of Cruse Bereavement Support NI since November 2022. Prior to this role, Thelma worked as an Independent Courier for the world's largest online retailer and held multiple leadership positions at Extern, including Interim Director of Services NI and Assistant Director Communities Ireland, focusing on the strategic development of services for vulnerable populations in Northern Ireland. Thelma's experience extends to leadership roles with Dementia NI, where co-chaired the charity to amplify the voices of individuals living with dementia, and as CEO of Addiction NI, advocating for those affected by addiction. Additionally, Thelma founded and chaired the Northern Ireland Alcohol Drug Alliance and has served as a board member for the Council for the Homeless (Northern Ireland).
