Matthew Ward

Head of Finance, UK at Crypto.com

Matthew Ward is the current Head of Finance for Crypto.com in the UK. Prior to this, they were the Head of Finance for Asto UK and Santander Group from February 2020 to January 2022. From July 2015 to November 2019, Matthew Ward was the Head of Finance for Architas, AXA Group. As Head of Finance, they were responsible for all financial aspects of the business, including budgeting, capital management, resource management, operational analysis and strategic business development.

During their time at Architas, Matthew Ward successfully tripled the asset base from €15bn to €50bn and doubled earnings. Matthew also streamlined accounting and finance processes and introduced improvements that enhanced operations, whilst building the finance team from two to six members over a period of four years. Additionally, they were the finance lead for the successful acquisition of an asset management business and a multi-asset fund range with total assets of €9.0bn. Matthew was also the finance lead for a corporate restructure programme, which included the establishment of an Irish management business.

At Crypto.com, Matthew Ward is responsible for providing critical operational leadership, facilitating business development and managing projects. Matthew is also a key member of Client Money, Risk & Operations and Business Development committees. Matthew works with other senior executives on the development and implementation of short and long-term business objectives and opportunities. Matthew also has full responsibility of the group consolidated ICAAP (Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process) from risk identification through to board approval.

Matthew Ward has an ACA from ICAEW, a Diploma in Applied Finance from the Securities Institute of Australia, and a BSc honours 2:1 Management Science from the University of Stirling.

Matthew Ward reports to Rafael Melo, Co-Founder & CFO. Matthew Ward works with and Rosie Donachie - Global Head of Sustainability & ESG.
