How you can help make a better world of work

We’re seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our SRE Enablement team.

The mission of the team is: “We deliver and maintain self-service patterns and tools that enable teams to create and own production-ready services.” You will be working as a part of a cross-functional team, involved with the entire product group and providing guidance and expertise to your partners. One of the key parts of the SRE Enablement team is mission support to provide domain knowledge within our product teams to extend capability and services.

SRE at Culture Amp is an inclusive, remote-friendly practice that embraces flexible work arrangements. You will be surrounded by talented engineers and have opportunities to both learn and teach.

As part of this team of amazing humans,

You will:

  • Work closely with other engineers to build, maintain and enhance our services following industry best practices.
  • Work with product teams and end users of SRE tooling to understand their needs/requirements/problems and then work to develop, refine, slice, implement and measure the impact of the solution.
  • Collaborate with other engineers in the team through pair programming, writing solution designs, or giving feedback on pull requests, to build a shared understanding of the work.
  • Drive technical conversations, provide technical suggestions and make decisions as a team.
  • Work with our talented security team to ensure the environment meets modern security standards (SOC2, ISO27001)

You have:

  • A strong command of at least one backend programming language, while comfortable learning TypeScript (as we use CDK and CDKTF heavily) and Golang (many SRE tools are written in it). Our developer teams also work in Ruby, Kotlin and Python, so being able to understand and debug those languages is a plus.
  • Experience with or knowledge of distributed systems and event-driven architecture (e.g. Kafka) is a big plus.
  • Strong familiarity with operational practices and systems (e.g. Observability, Security, CI/CD, Configuration management, etc.)
  • Strong cloud experience in AWS, additional GCP knowledge is a strong plus as we use it for our AI workloads.
  • A passion for automation and eliminating toil.
  • A drive to learn and hone your engineering craft.

You are:

  • Able to participate in a (pretty quiet) paid weekly on-call rotation approximately once every 6 weeks.
  • Able to balance hands-on technical skills whilst empowering and coaching engineers in the team.
  • An effective communicator both within your team and with external stakeholders.
  • Commercially minded and pragmatic in your approach, balancing business needs with architectural constraints.
  • Aligned with our values and be able to demonstrate them through your working practice.

We believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our success. We're committed to fostering a work environment that truly cares for and develops its people, and creates lasting positive impact. In addition to providing a competitive compensation package, some of the key benefits we offer are:

  • Employee Share Options Program: We empower you to be an owner in Culture Amp and share in our success

  • Access to external providers for mental wellbeing and coaching support to sustain the wellbeing, safety and development of our people
  • Monthly Camper Life Allowance: An automatic allowance paid out each month with your pay - you can spend it however you like to help improve your experience and life outside work
  • Team budgets dedicated to team building activities and connection
  • Intentional quarterly wellbeing pauses: A quarterly company-wide shutdown day in each region to to collectively pause, reset and focus on restoration and rest, without having to tap into individual vacation time
  • Extended year-end breaks: An extended refresh period at the end of year
  • Excellent parental leave and in work support program available from day 1 of joining Culture Amp
  • 5 Social Impact Days a year to make a positive impact on the community outside of work
  • MacBooks for you to do your best & a work from home office budget to spend on setting up your home office

Additionally, we don't just focus on our internal community; we believe in creating a better world of work for all. We're committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with Employee Resource Groups and ally communities in place.

We have a strong commitment to Anti-Racism, and endeavor to lead by example. Every step we make as a business towards anti-racism is another step we can take to support our customers in making a better world (of work). You can see our current commitments to Anti-Racism here.
