David Backer

David Backer has a diverse and extensive work experience in the biotechnology and healthcare industry. David is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at Curate Biosciences, where they focus on advancing platform technology for cell and gene therapies. Prior to this, David founded DB Biologics, LLC, providing strategy and support for cell and gene therapy companies. David has also held key leadership positions at Oxford Biomedica, ElevateBio, MilliporeSigma, and SAFC, where they contributed to the commercial development and growth of these organizations. Additionally, David has held roles at Molecular Medicine BioServices and Molecular Medicine, LLC, where they successfully managed the acquisition and sale of the company. Early in their career, David worked at Boehringer Mannheim and Abbott Laboratories, gaining valuable experience in sales, marketing, and scientific roles.

David Backer attended the University of Michigan from 1982 to 1987, where they completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology. David then pursued a Masters degree in Business Administration at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business from 1990 to 1992.
