In this role, they led the product development arm of R&D, creating a menu of molecular diagnostic products on a new isothermal diagnostic platform (illumigene). Within seven years, they had developed nine 510K-cleared and eleven CE-marked molecular tests.

Some of their notable accomplishments include developing the first amplified molecular Group A assay to receive 510K-clearance, as well as the first 510K-cleared assays for detection of Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Bordetella pertussis. Vlad also developed the first de novo 510-cleared test for congenital CMV, and the first field-deployable molecular diagnostic test for detection of malaria endorsed by CDC.

In addition to their work in product development, Slepnev has also participated in identifying product opportunities, conducting market research, designing assays, optimizing processes, and evaluating clinical performance in pre-submission studies. Vlad has also assisted in the preparation of 8 FDA 510K submissions and pre-IDE communication for multiple diagnostic products.

Slepnev has also been responsible for recruiting scientific advisors and clinical consultants, setting up invited speaker programs including leading clinical directors and key opinion leaders in molecular diagnostics of infectious diseases. Vlad has coauthored more than 20 poster presentations at Clinical Virology Symposium, AMP, ASM and ECCMID conferences.

In their most recent role as Chief Science Officer at Curative, Slepnev is continuing their work in developing innovative diagnostic solutions to improve patient care.
