Joerg Braun

Senior Scientist

Joerg Braun is a Senior Scientist at CureVac, with a career marked by significant academic and research accomplishments. Prior to joining CureVac in August 2018, Joerg served as a Scientist and held various academic positions, including Visiting Scholar at Brandeis University and Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Massachusetts, where collaboration with Professor Melissa J took place. Joerg's early research experience includes a PhD at the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology, working under Dr. Elisa Izaurralde, focusing on microRNA-mediated mRNA decay and gene regulation. Joerg successfully led over ten research projects, resulting in twelve peer-reviewed publications, and received prestigious awards such as the Karl Lohmann Prize and the Otto Hahn Medal. Joerg holds a Diplom in Biochemistry from the University of Tübingen and completed secondary education at Mörike-Gymnasium Ludwigsburg, specializing in Mathematics and Biology.
